All right, I’m at the point in Project Abyss where everything for the battle system is typed up and ready to go, and I even have someone doing the special animations for the character’s physical skills.
I still need a voice artist for Marybelle though! I may potentially have TWO people willing to do Ion, but I still don’t have anyone for Mary. If anyone wants to jump on the bandwagon and thinks they can pull of Mary well, please don’t be afraid to say something. You can either post here with a link to some voice samples (or hell, all of her lines), or you can e-mail them to me at skyladoragono at gmail dot com.
Now for all the new battle stuff, posting it all here for sanity’s sake:

Probably not surprising that I changed battle system already. However, it’s a very minor change; it’s the same KIND of battle system, it just has an extra add on to allow for more character poses, instead of only just using the character walking sprite. As such, I’ve been respriting the characters (and I’m glad I didn’t get too far in spriting the characters in the first place). The new system can be downloaded here.
I’ve got Luke and Ion done now, totally redoing Ion in the process. He looks more like the adorable, “Are you sure you’re a boy?” character that he’s supposed to be now. Tomorrow I’m going to start on Asch, with Mary as the last character to be done. Maybe if I’m lucky, I’ll be able to start on Asch tonight and be done tomorrow.
For now, enjoy some screens of Luke and Ion in action.

This is mostly for my reference, and for those that end up doing the voices of Mary and Ion. Quotes with a * before them have an echo effect for Mystic Artes.

In many cases, both enemies and allies can use the same skills. To add a little personality to each skill, I want to have the character’s voices over each one (like they are in Tales of the Abyss). The only way I can do this is by doing a separate attack for every character that uses a different voice (time consuming and not very efficient), or by using a script that can recognize who is using the attack (which I obviously perfer).
